In A Different Light: Types of Projectors

Finding the right quality in order to show a video is one that sometimes goes further than a DVD player. If you are interested in using a projector, there are different options that you can look into which will allow you to show a better picture on the screen. Knowing what types of projectors are available and how they can allow you to show the best movies will allow you to make an informed decision that relates to the investment that you want to make for showing films.

There are two main types of projectors that are used for the video screen. These both have been developed through time in order to create a brighter color and to present information in the correct way. The difference between these two types of projectors is reliant on the materials that are used in order to show the film that is moving through the projector. This is combined with the lenses and process that is used in order to show the film.

With the types of projectors that were first used in cinema, a tube was used in order to transmit light to the screen and show the movie. The tube projector would take an image and move it through the tube, which would have reflections in red, blue and green. These would then combine through three different lenses and move onto the screen by combining the colors. These types of projectors, while considered to have the best type of picture, are not used as often because of their expense as well as the difficulties with repairs.

The second types of projectors is known as an LCP, or liquid crystal projection. With these types of projectors, panels are substituted for the tubes, as used in the other projectors. The panels will then cause a metal lamp to light and will reflect the beams into an image from the lens. The result is that the screen will show the film from the lens that is reflecting from the panels. While these types of projectors are not as clear in picture, they are easier to use and more efficient when setting up or repairing the projector.

With the growth of technology, the LCP has also grown into more types of projectors that can be used for movies and films. This includes ones that have one panel, others that have three panels with one for each color, and LCPs that use digital imaging instead of the panels in order to create a different process for the projection. All of the types of projectors that are growing through the technical demands are also creating new ways of seeing color on film because of this projection.

With all of the types of projectors that are available are also options for seeing movies in a new light. Differentiating between these types of projectors, how they are able to show a movie and what process they use in order to get what is needed onto the film is one that is also creating new possibilities for showing a film.
